Playing around with design | Tackling ‘standing out on the shelf’

For the centred image, I wanted to somehow contain the wing inside something that would catch a potential reader’s eye as I felt on it’s own it looked empty and didn’t seem placed correctly.

Not only is the circle a tactical aim, it also fits with the image. It’s almost a metaphor for a bird stuck in a cage. The bird represents all the social issues tackled within the book, and the circle is society. It is also a metaphor for the man who is accused of an undeserved rape charge.
